Our small group went camping this weekend on my family's farm. On the way back home we decided to go through the McDonalds' drive-thru since the kids were all hungry. (We allow them to eat at McD's approximately 2-3 times per year.) I made sure to tell the kids to really enjoy their Happy Meals since it would be 2008 when they get another one.
A few minutes after delivering three Happy Meals to their respective locations in the mini-van, our oldest daughter says, "Mom, do I have to eat this stuff?!... I don't want it."
I instintively respond, "No, you don't have to eat it." Then I turn to my husband and say, "That's the right answer, isn't it? We're not requiring her to eat it, right?" He agreed. I smiled. I guess the 5 zillion lessons about nutrition are paying off.
