Introducing Ainur (a.k.a. Ms. Asia)

One of the many things I love about our town is having so many students from Kazakhstan studying here at the university. For the past year, two young Kazakh women, Ainur and Dana, have been our primary baby-sitters. Look at this amazing shot of Zack with Ainur. Do you have any idea what a gift this is to us for Zack to grow up in the States but surrounded by people who share his beautiful dark brown hair and eyes and rich cultural and ethnic identity?

Our children adore the Kazakh students and we adore them. Ainur and her partner recently won the Mr./Ms. Asia competition on campus, though it was the first year the Kazakh student association had ever entered. This weekend Ainur will move in with our family for her final week before heading back to spend the summer in Kazakhstan. We will miss her, as she will not be returning here in the Fall!

Thanks be to God for bringing us to this precious town, a little bit of Central Asia in the Midwest of America.
