Blake leaves Saturday for a three-week stint at the embassy in Turkmenistan.
I wouldn't imagine many of you know where this country is on a map, so if you're up for a little geography lesson, go grab your globe or a world atlas. And better yet, grab your kids, and have them help.
First, find Russia. It's massive so you can't miss that one! (-;
Next, try to find Kazakhstan (it's due south of Russia). Most people who find it on a map for the first time are amazed by how large it is. That's where we lived for a year and a half. Beautiful place to visit.
Then move your finger south. Next you'll see Uzbekistan (where we lived for 5 months) and then -- you got it--- Turkmenistan. Keep going south and you're in Iran.
Here is another website about Turkmenistan if you're interested (this one published by Turkmenistan.)
Let me know if you find out anything interesting. Read about its former president if you can.
